Sergio is a globetrotter, entrepreneur and Investomex co-founder. He made law school in Mexico City and worked for many years as a lawyer on two global law firms focusing on M&A, project finance, debt restructure, and securitization transactions.
His entrepreneurial spirit led him to start at 22 his first online side-business, WineSelects, an online wine retailer. Sergio decided to pursue entrepreneurship full time upon walking his feet off in the "Camino de Santiago" across Spain for over a month. Along with Jonathan Lewy, he started the outdoor advertisement division of Europro where he participated in important outdoor-advertisement-related infrastructure projects and led the merger process of two major companies in said industry.
Later on, since he had so many ideas to work on but little time to carry all them out he decided it was better to start an angel fund to back technology projects and the entrepreneurs behind them; which gave birth to Investomex. Sergio speaks fluently Spanish, English, Italian and French and is still struggling to continue his Portuguese and German lessons.
Jon was meant to be an entrepreneur since he was born. Being part of a successful family of entrepreneurs in Belgium he started his first business while in college where he transformed the school cafeteria and restaurant, feeding 2000 students every day.
In 2002 he flew down to Mexico, a country he fell in love with and a place where he saw a bunch of opportunities to start a business. He cofounded Wise Media Group with two college friends, a company innovating in outdoor advertising. Never being able to leave Mexico he also started to represent Drake Finance in Mexico, a bank offering loans of EXIMBank. Later on, with a company named Europro he came back to the industry that brought him to this country, the outdoor advertisement. His deep knowledge and connections in the industry have allowed him to participate in many government projects and M&A transactions.
Being an avid reader of Mashable, The Next Web and No Camels and having to cope with Sergio Romo's insistence to join him to invest in startups he cofounded Investomex. Jon speaks fluently French, Dutch, Hebrew, English and Spanish.
Ulises is an internet fan and entrepreneur. He is an expert in Affiliate Marketing, Performance and Online Marketing Expert among other many digital media activities. He also worked as Sales Manager in MercadoLibre.com, helped to launch Digital Ventures as Country Manager and was Commercial Representative of Buscapé and Punto Fox in Mexico.
In 2003, he co-founded Ergos, an Online Advertising Group specialized in online marketing solutions for US Hispanic, Portuguese and Latin American brands. Also, Ergos was the first Performance Marketing Agency in Mexico and has three business units. Adverlatin, an affilliate network; BlinkDR, a perfomance adnetwork; and Ergos Media, the CPM division of the group. In 2010, Ergos was acquired by Matomy Media, a leading international online marketing firms in Europe and a growing presence in North and South America markets in what has been one of the biggest transactions for a digital media group in Mexico.
Ulises is passionate about travelling, business and environmental initiatives and is one of the most active angel investors in the latin american entrepreneurial ecosystem.
